Posted - 07/24/2005 : 12:06:05 I love the first disc, the second is sporadically fascinating, but I would rather hear FB reinterpet his own songs. When he has done so in the past (Fiddle Riddle in particular), the results are stunning. |

Posted - 07/23/2005 : 17:11:57 i, personally, love the variations of these songs.but dsk 2 definitly is an aquired taste and unfortunalty not mine.

Posted - 07/23/2005 : 16:38:18 Sorry, but I can't like disc 2 in the least, makes me cringe. I think SSMVGD is a much better record than this, and it remains unreleased (sort of). Disc 1 is uberfan stuff. Cool, but ultimately superfluous. How many different versions of these songs do we really need, especially since the definative ones are so good? This and Black Sessions are at the bottom of my particular barrel. |

Posted - 07/23/2005 : 16:25:50 Yeah, I love the remade pixie songs. The first time I heard them I almost went insane! A lot of people didn't like them, though. So I guess it's an aquired taste.

Posted - 07/23/2005 : 00:46:45 I like disc one a lot, but I FUCKING LOVE disc 2. I want a tour of Frank Black and Two Pale Boys. Those reinterpretations of those Pixies songs are sensational. They're way ahead of their time. I feel they'll be appreciated more in a few years.

Posted - 07/22/2005 : 15:22:48 Ooh, good thread.
It took me a while to like this album in its totality.
I will buy anything The Man makes. I don't have to always love every bit of it, but I do like owning what he creates -- and I'm not a collector.
I especially like that we are discussing his work, that's always fun.
I love the photos, the packaging, the whole vibe, the liner notes. It's good to hear how he envisioned the songs back in the day. And to see the Pale Boys' interpretation. Even if I don't love it all, it's good to check it out.
