Posted - 05/06/2005 : 06:03:20 Hey all, this is one of my favourite FB records. I was wondering was this, when originally released availible on 12" vinyl.
I am really keen to pick it up but find no evidence of it on vinyl on the web. Have any of you guys seen it or know of anywhere i can buy it? I would love to sit back, pour a drink and hear the crackle of vinyl while jet black river and all the other greats on this album unfold.

Posted - 05/12/2005 : 04:31:10 While searching through the completed auctions on ebay, I saw that the "limited edition" LP of the first solo album recently sold for only about $20. Which is weird cuz I swear I've seen it sell for much higher than that in years past. |

According to this 4AD discography site (http://quimby.gnus.org/html/group/blackfrank.html), "CADD3004 is a limited edition LP released through the Chain With No Name. It has a special four colour silk-screened carboard envelope sleeve."
CADD3004 is the catalog number, so look for that on yer album sleeve.
The other, less limited LP version (CAD 3004) is still pretty nice. I bought that on on ebay for maybe $15-20, but that was years ago. |

yes, vinyl rocks. other interesting FB stuff in big black ? the black sessions are funny - my pressing has a big hump on both records. doesn't really add to the sound quality...and i love the hang on to your ego ep. surf epic comes so cool from the record player.
yeah, you are right, the best thing about vinyl is just the cover art. and you have something in your hands, you know. call me nostalgic, but CD's are ways more anonymous than LP's...

Yeah you just can't beat vinyl for sheer quality, not to mention the sleeves are pure art. So you have Cult of Ray on Vinyl, i've never seen it. I have FB/FB, Teenager,SMYT, and hang on to your ego 12" which has the class b side surf epic. Any other interesting FB/Pixies vinyl?

Posted - 05/09/2005 : 02:21:04 I think Better Things has been released on CD, on one of the IDWTHY eps, although it could be a promo only CD. I don't have it myself so I can't be sure of it.

Posted - 05/08/2005 : 18:04:38 Jason, thanks. That is an info-filled list you just posted. Good to know. Can that info be archived somewhere, oh fb.net powers that be?

Posted - 05/08/2005 : 15:18:44 No vinyl for Black Letter Days or Frank Black Francis.
Frank stuff on vinyl:
LPs
FRANK BLACK (Pressed on vinyl by 4AD in Europe, not pressed in America or anywhere else, I believe. Two editions of this are available: one in a rare, silkscreened, envelope-like sleeve [has sold for over $100 on ebay] and one in standard sleeve) TEENAGER OF THE YEAR (Again, only pressed in Europe. Double LP) CULT OF RAY (Sony; also, only pressed in Europe) BLACK SESSIONS LIVE (Europe-only again. Double LP) FRANK BLACK & THE CATHOLICS (pressed in Europe and the USA, by Play it Again Sam and Spinart, respectively) PISTOLERO (pressed on vinyl only by Spinart in America and never pressed in Europe? Not sure. Spinart definitely did put this on vinyl, though. It may still be available from the Spinart website even.) SHOW ME YOUR TEARS (audiophile vinyl release from Diverse Records in Europe)
EPs & singles (as far as I know)
Hang On To Your Ego 12" (4AD, same tracks as CD) Headache 10" (4AD, includes same three tracks as one of the CD singles, "At the End of the World"...) Headache 7" (4AD, b/w "Headache (NYC Version)") Frank Black & Teenage Fanclub, Peel Session 12" Men in Black 7" (Sony) I Don't Want to Hurt You 7" (Sony) The Marsist 7" (Sony, b/w "Better Things"... Could "Better Things" be the only Frank Black track that's ONLY been released on vinyl and not CD??) All My Ghosts 7" (Play it Again Sam, b/w "Solid Gold" and "Humboldt County Massacre", I think) |

Two Reelers, is FRANK BLACK FRANCIS out on vinyl? I would be willing to pay 70 dollars for it if it existed. |
