When I listen to this song I feel like I should be driving some old car through a sunny desert very fast. Then I picture myself stopping on the side of a road to help a beautiful girl change her tire. Then we dance as the song plays in the middle of the road.

Am I the only one?

I have a full band (studio?) version which is much better than the one on DW.
I don't know where it's from though.

I've got two:

Palo Alto 03-03-95. Fine playing and singing with the Catholics, but low sound quality.

Interfm Radio Session 1996-01-10. That was the one I was talking about.

There was some sort of acoustic live version on the FTP. I used to play along with Frank on this one, without the evil Catholics fooling around.

There's also a live version from a Mark Radcliffe session in '96 that's very good, and an acoustic version recorded for the French radio the same year that's excellent too.

yes!! exactly!!

As for your question, I have only heard the "Devil's Workshop" version of the song. But can it get any better than that?

Which version do you like better? I'm a huge fan of the Kitchen Tapes one far more than on DW.

In any case, I definitely think the next time you see a beautiful girl pulled over you should stop, fix her tire, and then dance to Modern Age. I love the picture that's in my head of this 60s sort of dance in the middle of the road.
