Posted - 03/11/2005 : 19:18:12 I just found out that the TINY, intimate (occupancy-about 100) Fez Under Time Cafe is closing. In May 2003, I was just passing it, there was a huge line ans was told FRANK BLACK! solo acoustic, was performing a one-off that nite. I said (to myself):"Holy Fuckin Shit!" ...It was sold out. I had just seen FB and the C's SIX times the prev November in NYC, DC, Conn, etc. So....I walk around the corner and see the Great One himself at the "back" door, w/ an unlit cigaret w/ some other guy. I says to myself: "Holy Fuckin' Shit!" (I have a limited vocabulary) and immed take out my lighter and give him a light.....and VERY quickly tell him that "Dog In The Sand" is a masterpiece..or whatever...He asks me if I'm going to the show. I say I dont have a ticket. He says: "Just go in, tell'em I said it's cool"
It was a wonderful nite! 2 hours of Frank and just his acoustic guitar (actually Reid Paley joined for a coupla songs). Hearing "Robert Onion" solo was worth the price of admission( Yeah, I had to pay)

escpecially that 'yeah, I had to pay' part I did not expect that I've heard about people bumbing in at rockstars and they have all the luck in the world (name on napkin, guestlist, backstage) you had to pay, but I guess you didn't mind!
