Anyway, Rich just sent me some info I thought I'd pass along. He's now moved to Nashville and has been working with some new artists. For those of you in Austin, TX, he's playing in SXSW with Thad Cockrell next week. Also, he's working with Kenneth Brian, Last Train Home, and Joshua Black Wilkins.
Finally, now that he's in Nashville, you can usually catch him Wednesday nights on Lower Broad with Jen Jones & The Cameros at The Bluegrass Inn.

Posted - 04/06/2005 : 08:15:58 Joshua, Damn, boy, you got a helluva voice. I picked up "Hellbent and Brokenhearted" down at Grimey's. Not only do you have a great voice, your songwriting is really good. They are all very good songs, my favorites right now are "counting shooting stars", "in my time of dying", "hellbent and brokenhearted", "barbed wire", and "down by the waterside".
Your voice is definitely all your own, but still, I was trying to figure out who all it reminds me of and I've come up with the following: Merle Haggard, Steve Earl, John Hiatt, and Bob Seger, but like I said, your voice is all yours.
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night at the Family Wash. I got a email and "shout out" from the Swimmer over at Pixiesmusic.com. He and I are going to hook up at the show.
By the way, I really dig the dobro and juice harp on your new album, hearing it live ought to be a real treat.

Posted - 04/04/2005 : 13:22:10 Hi Joshua, thanks for the reminder for the rest of us, I didn't need any reminding. I've marked it on my calendar and made plans with Mrs. OldManInaCoffeeCan to get someone to watch the kids, she declined and said I needed a night out, so, realizing that you can't argue with logic (better known as Mrs. OldManInaCoffeeCan) I've called my brother, and he and I are coming to the Family Wash this Thursday to see you guys.
I thought I would get your new album, "Hellbent and Brokenhearted" before Thursday, and I was hoping I could visit one of my local record stores to get it, but no luck so far. Can you tell me where or how to get it. And, if not your newest, then how 'bout "17th and Shelby"?

Yo, Kathryn, pretty weird having a topic about a new Frank album and right next to it a topic about Rich in a different band, huh? |

Posted - 03/15/2005 : 22:06:33 Hello. this is joshua black wilkins. I have been a VERY lucky person to have Rich in my band (when he is available) now that he lives in Nashville. I will be working hard to get tour dates together for this summer and hopefully a new album in the fall. The plan is for Rich to co-produce it with Scott McEwen. if you are in the Nashville area, or will be on April 7th, we will be playing with Paul Burch and the WPA Ballclub at East Nashville's Family Wash. Glad to see he has so many fans. www.joshuablackwilkins.com

C_O_F, concerning Rich, that's great news!!! I look forward to checking out The Cameros. We appreciate you posting the topic and Rich sharing that with us.

Absolutely Kathryn, there is nothing else musically that would make me happier. I want this (FB&theC's to continue to make music together now and forever) almost as much as you do.
And, hey, C_O_F, let's get this tribute album recorded in time to join FB&theC's as their opening act for the Honeycomb tour! So, get your band ready, and in the mean time, Swimmer and I will get ready. I just finished a new martial arts class and thought I would incorporate some of the moves that I learned into a few of the songs we perform on the tribute tour. I've been practicing and right now I look a little bit like Elvis doing his Karate moves, David Lee Roth doing his gymnastic moves sans the spandex, and Joe Cocker with his spasmatic twitches. Don't worry, I'll have it going on by the time the tour kicks off. |

Dave Phillips deserves his own thread but since you've got this going, I spied this torrent at easytree this morning. I know he and Stinson go back to at least the mid-90's "Perfect". Perhaps if one can catch Stinson's show, one can also say hi to Dave.
Here's the relevant info:
Tommy Stinson, 2005-02-09 , Lexington KY
Tommy (ex-Replacements, current member of Guns N' Roses) is accompanied by Dave Philips (ex-Perfect, current member of Franck Black & the Catholics).
I had tickets to the Stinson/Phillips show in Fargo, ND, but we got a blizzard, and I couldn't go. I was looking forward to it.

Posted - 03/09/2005 : 06:18:50 Hey OldMan, I'm in. Jon's in. I can only imagine Swimmer is in.
That'd be a lot of fun, you know, except for Jason trying to kill me. Really, just having a band doing covers like FB&C's, which often features EDF whom I love. We don't really do covers in my band because we're missing this, or that won't be exactly the same, but I'd like to anyway.

And, while your here, maybe we could get Jon Tiven to get us some studio time and be our Producer(The Swimmer, You and I, and whoever else from here at FB.net that can make it) as we record a very special tribute to the Catholics? |

Hey check out the Camaros bio and tourdates http://thecamaros.com/bio.htm
If the band sounds half as good as Jen Jones looks, they ought to be pretty damn good. And, for my sisters here at FB.net, if your into Rockabilly Boys, The Camaros look the part.
Anyway, I'm extending an invitation to anyone here at FB.net to meet me at the Bluegrass Inn, any Wednesday that Rich is playing with Jen and The Camaros, and the drinks are on me (the first 5-6 rounds anyway, after that, well, baby needs a new pair of shoes). |
