Posted - 02/11/2005 : 14:07:11 So what's the story behind some of the album titles, like Teenager Of The Year or Devil's Workshop? They don't seem to appear in any of the song titles or lyrics if I am not mistaken. Anybody has some knowledge on this? |

Oops... Sorry, didn't know my question was so unclear. I was just wondernig why the albums were titled the way they were, like Black Letter Days was titled after the song Black Letter Days, but Devil's Workshop doesn't have any songs called Devil's Workshop or have those words in any of the lyrics. So I was just wondering why the album was named Devil's Workshop. Same for TOTY. Title meanings. If anybody knows. Or can speculate. Thanks.
Nah, your question wasn't unclear. My head was unclear.
I dunno why it's called Devil's Workshop. Maybe Frank can put down that diaper and explain to us why?

Posted - 02/12/2005 : 10:13:35 I always fantasised that toty refered to the moodiness of the songs, the drastic changes, the highs and lows, like being a teenager. the most teenager-esque.
Devils Workshop I think is just a good name, but I've often dreamed that it may have hinted at the recording process or something. as if the creative process is akin to a devil's workshop.
or not. |

Posted - 02/12/2005 : 08:16:16 Good topic and nothing wrong with your post ElevatorLady.
It will give me something to ponder today, during those times when I'm there, but not really there, you know what I mean, daydreaming, zone-ing out.
I'm sure there's some info on your topic in some interviews with The Man, and someone here will have read them, and they will post what they know, and then others, like myself, will post what we think we know, and many, many, many others will post witty, insightful, and lucid comments. |

Posted - 02/12/2005 : 08:09:55 i was wondering the same. i had asked frank in the king holds court thread where "teenager of the year" came from but no response. i think i heard someone say that frank's bro won the "teenager of the year" award in high school. but then again it might have been a joke. at our high school some of our awards were most obnoxious, spinniest, and best looking. we were so shallow.

Posted - 02/11/2005 : 19:44:27 OK I see my previous post looks kinda dumb. I'm just trying to say there's no point in asking why Cult Of Ray is called that way because the answer is obviously because it's the title of a song, and you can search the meaning of that title in the song, but for others you can't. Yes, I see now this second post is even dumber. Maybe I better get some sleep now. |

Posted - 02/11/2005 : 19:02:56 I am not sure what you're asking. Some artists (not just Frank) allude to the album title or have the title song .... or not at all. Or a couple of albums later have a song that is the same as a previous album.
