Posted - 02/07/2005 : 16:34:37 OK, I am looking at the cover of "Show Me Your Tears," and it says produced by Stan Ridgway. I about flipped! I LOVE STAN RIDGWAY!!! I have all of his solo CDs and his "Wall of Voodoo" album is fricking brilliant. How ironic that these two musicians would be drawn to one another. They are both these two eclectic '80s icons (and beyond). Now, I don't have "Show Me Your Tears," but I see that FB does a song called Nadine, is that Stan's "Nadine"?

Hey! That's me in the mirror! And my lovely lady Cynthia and our friend John Dentino! Thanks for finding that photo - i love it!! How we ended up in that mirror is testament to Stan's brilliance (his photo). That's Stan's lady Pietra Wexstun between the Blacks.
That was backstage after the David Thomas Mirror Man show in which Chuckie had a part and sang a few numbers. What a fun night - blew my mind, almost as much as the next night did...

Posted - 03/28/2005 : 13:09:10 Here is an interesting photo from Mr. Stan Ridgway's site. I don't recognize the woman in the middle but the one on the left is Jean. We all know who The Man on the right is.
I can't get the little rex X to vamoose so we can view the photo so here's the URL

I was at that same show, he was brilliant! Hard to believe that the guy could be so on, playing and singing, when it appeared he was just randomly picking out songs. Man, I wish there had been a larger audience, he deserved it. I bought two CDs from the "Ridgway Emporioum" after the show. HIS VERSION of Mexican Radio was hilarious! And his "Call of the West" was great. Hell, every song was great. Legendary performer!

Posted - 03/03/2005 : 21:58:01 fyi - Stan Ridgway also has a website here:
<http://www.stanridgway.com>
with his tour info for SXSW. Ok...if Stan produced Show Me Your Tears with Charles and the Cathlolics, maybe he'd be the one to produce for the Pixies? Any thoughts? |

Posted - 02/22/2005 : 22:29:36 Once again, I must give thanks to where thanks is do.
Just got Black Diamonds, Snakebite, Live Beyond Tomorrow, & Anatomy. Very exited and looking foward to seeing the d.v.d, "showbusiness is my life" Good stuff., very good stuff. Would recomend to anyone w/an ear for tunes. i.e; anyone on FBnet.
The board on stanridgway.com is fairly new and although beit somewhat slow yet, has a lot a fine folks like yourselves posting on it. Plus Mr. Ridgway himself posts quite frequently and of course recomends The Man in the following...
"and aka Black Francis..aka Mr. Charles Thompson - Abstract Songwriting Machine!
Taken at the sessions for "Show Me Your Tears " - Frank and the Catholics latest release. Buy this record. You'll like it."

Posted - 02/09/2005 : 20:01:50 Very cool. Thanks Shazeb Andleeb for making the connection. Wow so cool! Mexican Radio was one of the first rock tunes that we idolized growing up. I would like to check out the music as a grown up now. |

Posted - 02/09/2005 : 14:37:03 Are there any articles where FB talks about his collaboration with Stan Ridgeway? I like Stan Ridgeway, too. It would be interesting to hear FB's perspective on why/how they worked together. |
