So i bought an alternate version of the "I Gotta Move" single on ebay(i already had the one w/ "Humboldt County Massacre" and "Do Nothing") that has "H.C.M" and an 18 minute interview w/ FB recorded at a restaurant where he talks about Jonathan Richman, cesear salad, scotch, and more. It is a very fun interview.

But my question involves the "exclusive new studio track" advertised on the back. It looks like this single was put out by spinART, Alternative Press and Goodnoise.com (which no longer exists) and it says how you can put it in your computer and donwload an exclusive new track. However, because the site no longer exists, does anyone know what track was offered?

Has anyone noticed that this promo CD also has MP3 versions of the songs and interview? Also, the listed time of 2:26 for Humboldt is incorrect. It's actually 1:44.

I verified it is the same version of Humboldt as on the Australian "I Gotta Move" CD single on Shock Records.

Now that is weird.
And Just as bad as the 'I Gotta Move' typo.

I tells ya. 4Ad never cocked up like this.
Okay, the occasional word missed out to make their lyrics more visually pleasing to the eye, but never a disc in the wrong case.

Weird indeed!

Yep, your memory serves you well.
But they're both for the same song (albeit different b-sides)

You know what else is weird? I bought this HEADACHE single SEALED in 1999 from a bargain-bin in a now-defunct cd store, not knowing at the time that it had a companion cd. Upon listening, other than the title track, no other track matched the liner tracks. A couple years later, after learning of the HEADACHE 2 disc, I discovered mine was packaged wrong in the factory! I received the HEADACHE 2 disc in the HEADACHE 1 case! Needless to say, I had to take a Tylenol.

Also, has anyone ever heard of a bootleg circa 1995 called Frank Black Francis of live solo acoustic work? Someone once told me they had seen this and I went "WHAAAA???!?!?!?!".

More pointless trivia.
The 'All My Ghosts' and 'I Gotta Move' singles both have the same cover art, with slight differences only in colour.

I've never seen this before with any other band or solo artist.

Yeah! That's weird. The track time on the 'I Gotta Move' single is listed as 2:26 (or around there as I am going off memory), but only lasts 1:44 (approx).

I don't own the 'All My Ghosts' single and have searched hard for it.

Can anyone explain this timing typo?

Try the 'All My Ghosts' single.

actually, on further listening, 'I Gotta Move' seems similar to the 'All My Ghosts' version but one lasts 1:44 and the other 2:26.
There's an acoustic version floating around which is nice.

(you beat me to it BLT, my machine too slow. out the window it goes)

I believe it is the same version of Humboldt as on the Australian CD single with "Do Nothing". (I'm not at home so I can't verify it right now.) Humboldt also appears, albeit in a completely inferior version, on SSMVGD-- that version is much slower and has an extra chorus.

Dumb question...

I own this single as well, and it is the only version I have and have ever heard of Humboldt County Massacre. Do other versions exist that don't sound so muddy? Or is this the only recording? It's very hard, no matter how I equalize it, to understand the lyrics. I love the song, though...the guitars are amazingly grizly! Absolutley GRIZLY!!!

so THAT'S where that interview came from!...I found it online somewhere and thought it odd to be released just like that.

but I do dig the kitchen/rest. noise...keep it real i guess.

<groan>

I love the fact that you can hear him getting progressively drunker as the interview goes on, and that he's upset about the traditional caesar salad being "debased." I made it, too. It's yummy. Thanks for the recipe, Frank.

I hate to break it to you, Kathryn, but that salad was not so much a Caesar. It had provision.

A kind forum member just sent me the recipe for that Ceasar
salad and I made it last night and it was good.

Sorry to go off topic, tho it is Frank-related...a recipe straight
from Frank's mouth, so to speak. Regarding the croutons
he says to include in the salad, Frank says "Some real croutons,
make them in an iron skillet, please."

I think so... Was that the same place that offered the original/alt version of I'LL BE BLUE as a free download at least a year before Dog In The Sand was released? 1998 seems a long time ago...

(( I talk plain talk ))

it was the studio version of "i want rock and roll" - not exactly hard to find any longer. i know because i was given a copy of that same single and managed to download the exclusive little bugger. then i dubbed it from my wife's laptop onto a cassette tape - seriously. this was before i even owned a computer. jesus, look at me now.
