Who would you like to see Frank collaborate with?
Who would you like to help Frank sing one of his? Or he could be covering theirs. Which artist(s)? What song?

He's done it with the Fanclub and I think his performance with Bowie of 'fashion' is one of my all time favourite FB highlights. Not for Bowie, but the Black. beep beep!

What do you think?

mine would be a duet with Kurt Cobain. Unplugged 'Just the Two of Us'

TVC 15 - with or without Bowie

Nope. That ones coming under:

'Get This! I Was Taking A Piss The Other Day When Suddenly...'

Funny story, Manchester Uni gig '91.

And for the record (girls, and boys. don't mean to discriminate against anybody here), he's big!

I expected this to be a "brush with greatness" thread about an FB encounter while standing at a restaurant pisspot or some place like that. Needless to say, I am disappointed.

Frank has already collaborated with TMBG, but I'd like to see him do that again.

If it has to be someone new, maybe Scott McCaughey?

I want to see FBATC's on a tour with Dylan. Like when Dylan toured with Tom Petty and they were his backup band.

How about who would you like to see the Catholics support (without FB)? They would be great with Dylan, Beck, Neil Young, van morrison, anybody who has any breadth to their work.

That's it!
With Kelley Deal!

I find her songs catchier than her sister's ones...

Maybe with David Byrne on an early Talking Heads song...

With Lou Reed on "Dirt" or "Leave me alone" with frank Screaming... and Richard Lloyd on guitar.

I would love to listen Frank with Lou Reed, to sing with David Bowie was something...so who´s left? The NYC man!

You should start with "Terminal Tower" including the first singles and followers with b sides. A nice way to be introduced to the band in its fisrt incarnations (75 - 82). My dark age, 30 seconds over T and Final Solution are really amazing songs. There is something Pixiesesque in it.
Then move to "The Modern Dance" and "Dub Housing" both released in 78. Masterpieces. In the Modern Time period of Pere Ubu I advice to all of you Frank Black Fans "World in Collision" produced by Gil Norton, with Eric Drew Feldman in the band (1991). Great Bizarre-pop album who shares a lot of common points with the early Frank Black Pop-Albums. Very interesting. "Ray Gun Suitcase" (1995)is fantastic and had a strong Pixies-like dynamic both musical and thematical (the ufo-weird approach of the words). Great, especially the song "Red Sky".

Try these ones and if conquered, try them all...
Don't forget Thomas and 2 pale boys. (my favorite: Erewhon)

I rank Pere Ubu amongst "the big things" of my personnal musical life after The Velvet Underground, Bowie and Pixies.

J'aime bien parler de moi...

I just did.

Frank's a part of the Pale Orchestra, I never knew that.
Thanks HW. Something to get my teeth into.

I haven't listened to any Pere Ubu (kick me now!)
Which song/album would be the best place to start?

Monsieur Posted - 11/30/2004 : 12:06:25
Frank and Morrissey!

By the Way it is "30 seconds over Tokyo"
I would rather go for a "Final Solution"

I'm surprised this hasn't happened already, considering Frank's Ubu connections: Frank with Pere Ubu's Dave Thomas. Their voices might blend well, even though each is so distinctive.

Song? A remake of "60 Seconds Over Tokyo?"
