Posted - 11/09/2004 : 13:15:19 Yo, maybe nobody cares but I want to do a selection of Frank Black's worst songs, I mean a compilation that would work and would be a good album for any new silly bands... Well U know I have time to waste today... and I want U to react, you giks!
Old Black Dawning Calistan (Am I joking?) Kicked in the Taco Dance War I gotta move Steak'n Sabre You're such a wire Hermaphroditos California Bound 1826 Jane the Queen of Love (Top Worst!) Velvety (how dare I...) Modern Age The Scene Massif Central (haaaa! you're blushing!)
Most of them are below the average in their studio recording form, I admit that some of them played live are a bit better 'mais ça casse pas des briques' contrary to other songs that are truely evil!
Revisionnisme progressiste.

Just kidding.
"Just kill the one with the sword first." "Ah," Reagan says, raising his waxed and penciled eyebrows, and cocking his pompadour in Shaftoe's direction. "Smarrrt--you target them because they're the officers, right?" "No, fuckhead!" Shaftoe yells. "You kill 'em because they've got fucking swords! You ever had anyone running at you waving a fucking sword?"

HATE ME is one of my all-time favourite tunes....i hate you !

Posted - 11/17/2004 : 07:35:46 There are not many Frank songs that I dislike but these the few:
1826 Massif Centrale (can't see what the fuss is about... first bit is great then it gets boring) Hang Onto Your Ego (only crap song off of the first album) Stupid Me Fields of Marigold
Thats about it really

Frank is my single favourite artist of all time.
But "Build High", the B-Side of Planet of Sound, really, really sucked.
I'm betting he's over it. |

Posted - 11/16/2004 : 11:47:24 This thread is a joke. Calistan??? Give me a break. Anyone who hates Calistan isn't a Frank fan, and hwolsky is, therefore this thread is a joke ( but its a funny one). Sometimes its just a matter of time till a frank song infests your head and you gotta hear it. I owned Pistolero for two years before I liked anything from it. I'm not sure if it ever left my cd player for the next year. |

Moving from the clown to the jester will mean moving from similar to same, from alike to identical, from comparable to analogous. Though applied differently, the colours used on one can be used on another, and a couple of changes of costume will rapidly transform the jester into a clown and the clown into a jester. Strictly speaking, they almost duplicate each other as regards clothes and function, the only difference between them, from a social point of view, is that clowns do not usually visit the palaces of kings. |

Posted - 11/12/2004 : 01:42:52 I fail to see anything good in You're Such a Wire. The lyrics are awful (come on! "Full of it" rhymes with... "full of it"!), the melody is really bad (the high notes on "even YOU at TIMES must get tired" make me cringe), the drums sound dull and uninspired and the other catholics have nothing interesting to play. The song is either too slow or too fast, I don't know. I sound mean but I really, really hate it. Mind you, that makes 1 bad song and 300+ amazing ones, so I guess it's no big deal if I diss that one.

Posted - 11/11/2004 : 15:46:41 Just to clarify--simply naming a list of songs you don't like is not "criticism". Criticism would be explaining why you don't like them in some form of detail.
Not that I have anything wrong with someone listing their least favorites, but you can't really defend it in the name of criticism.
Guess mine would be Brackish Boy Mosh, Don't Pass the Guy 666 Steak and Sabre You're Such a Wire Black Ryder
It'd be an EP I reckon. |
