I had a difficult day at work today, and after having dinner alone in my office, on my desk, in front of my computer, I put on my walkman and listened to Everything is New.

It was like magic, and the line "Everything to do" was so positive. This is something I like about Frank Black (I am not saying Charles), this optimistic view, how he is able to laugh through tears.

His music is so close to people, along with his do it yourself attitude, no would-be-artist crap. This is also why I must say I like his solo/catholic career much better than the Pixies.

No other musician is able to lift me up so deeply.

i just saw the dvd last week. its fucking amazing. Unfortunately, all the concert footage (including the footage during the interview portion) is from the same show, but otherwise its great. David Bowie crowns him the best american songwriter. Its nice to hear musicians praise The Man considering he gets no credit for his abilities, but then again thats fine with me cause it keeps the crowd size down at his shows.

Which makes me remember that I bought the DVD 6 months ago and still haven't watched it for some reason.

Hey Monsieur, I know what you mean, well, maybe not the part about eating dinner alone in my office after a horrible day, I always eventually make it home for dinner, but the other part, about listening to Frank after one-helluva-day.

I too enjoy the Show Me Your Tears album, really, from Nadine all the way through Manitoba. I especially like Horrible Day ("I took a little something to make my worries go away, I laid down with a movie and I started to feel Okay..."), into that great guitar and vocals at the beginning of "Massif Centrale, and then back to the crying with "When Will happiness find me again". The music just takes me away from all the crap and stress of the day, and, during that short ride home, I can begin to unwind.

And, I agree wholeheartedly, No Other Muscian is Able to Lift Me Up so Deeply. You know, it's like The Man himself said, "it's all I listen to, it's all freedom rock, can you feel it, I am Freeeeee."

Hey, check out the new Pixies DVD, it has some good footage, inside looks, and interesting interviews with other non-mainstream muscians telling their Pixies' stories.
