When you go to but, lets say FBF, will you be ordering it from Spinart/Cooking Vinyl, purchasing it from a major retailer or getting it from the local "not some stinking chain store" shop? I used to order from Spinart, but have decided to have the local shop get it for me.

Well, I am heading off to Taiwan for a week in the next few days, and there they have a Tower Records in Taipei so thats where I am going to buy FBF I guess. I'd order it from Spinart, or Amazon but stuff sent over here often goes missing and never gets actually gets here so I am not going to do it that way.

there's no record shops near here, so I preordered it via CD Wow, cause I have an Egg Credit card, and you get 5% off all purchases at CD Wow if you use that card.. cause I'm skint. |

I placed my order for FBF about three weeks at my local indie shop. I get $1. off for preordering. They always have a list of upcoming CD's and Frank was not on the list. The last time I walked in the owner had penciled in FBF 10-12. I guess they had several others order it as well.

No , I have to travel 40 km and order and wait for about on month...but that´s what you get when you live in the country, many good things but about music nothing!

I just ordered FBF through my local indie shop. Hope they can get it in. If so they will get the call for HC when the time comes.

I have no local indepentent music stores. I bought TOTY and SMYT from HMV and YELLOW from Amazon.co.uk.
Then I bought COR to BLD/DW minus Pistolero in one go from Amazon again. Am I a bad person? I thought I was being good by buying them all...

Folks like me have to travel about 2 hrs. out of town to buy Frank Black material. The only store in this town is a Sam Goody and Im sorry to say, they don't stock up on a lot of FB material. There's a cool indy store in Lexington however, which is where I tend to go. About 3 hrs. out of town, there exists what is probably one of the best record stores in the U.S. (I think it has been voted as such by record buying afficionados)...it's in Louisville and it's called Ear X-Tacy. Great great store. |

Well I ordered for the convenience and I was under the assumption if FB could make more money, it would be if I purchased direct from cooking vinyl. Who knows, but that's what I did. |

I will buy it at a normal shop
nothing big, because they won't have fbf
just one 'alternative' shop that is a bit cheapier than the rest

Just because I was curious about the price, I tried to find out the ordering information for Frank Black Francis on Spinart's site and came up with nothin'. It's not even listed on their store's page for new releases (http://www.spinartrecords.com/site/store.php?p=new_releases). Am I missing something? |

I'll shop around. If a record shop has it cheaper I'll get it there, if not, then elsewhere. I try to avoid internet shopping. I love the whole 'trip to get a CD'. Saying that, I've been buying a few CDs from amazon & ebay recently because I'm so poor, and it's so cheap. |

Probably just a local chain music store, since I don't have any cool independent record stores in my area. I usually only mail order things if I can get a significant discount, or I think they won't be available in stores. I don't think either of these is the case with FBF.

I remember buying DEVIL'S WORKSHOP, BLACK LETTER DAYS, and SHOW ME YOUR TEARS from Hasting's. WHY? It was right down the street from my job and I could go pick them up on release day on my lunch break.
Now I longer work near any CD-selling place except a Best Buy that I don't trust to get the Frank Black Francis thing in so to the reliable independent shoppe I probably will go. |
