Possibly asked, possibly not. Are the Catholics doing anything sans Frank. An album of their own? Some rocking' cowbuy punk instrumentals? Maybe one of them can sing? They backing anyone else?

I hate reading that Frank isn't really thinking about them or knowing when he'll work with them next. I really want to see them together after all this Pixies hype finally dies out. Maybe he'll use them on a Honeycomb tour?

Yeah, I'm so privilaged to have seen the Pixies, but I got so use to the fact it would never happen. It's weird.
I saw them like, 6 months ago. it was awesome. Bearing in mind it's 10 years later, it was just like I expected.
But in the time of me first hearing them and the reunion, 8 or 9 years now, I've studied and learnt every damn note and lyric.
I moved on in a way, Frank played a big part in that. So seeing them just seems like the icing on the cake.
The highlight for me was finding their music in the first place.

Back to the Catholics. Honeycomb, from what I've heard, isn't anything the Cs couldn't have done themselves.
So don't you think they might be bit bummed they didn't get the oppurtunity to have played this FB masterpiece?

They were all musicians before frank ever brought them to our attention, so maybe they don't feel like playing as Frank Black's back up band, whenever he needs the support. guess we'll see. that's if Honeycomb tours.

LOL, Old Man re: Levon Helm in the nursing home.

Didn't I read somewhere on the forum that there won't be a Honeycomb tour? Maybe because of the baby being so new?

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I was happy to see the Pixies again
but I am dying for the Catholics to hit the road pronto.

Hopefully he will be touring this killer album, but I don't know who will back him up.

Wow. Honeycomb will be the next in line of Frank Black solo albums in my collection.
You see. They're segregated: Pixies / Frank Black / Frank Black and the Catholics.

In my opinion, he will bring back the Catholics, or some mixture of previous bandmates.

Call me crazy, but I really don't see some of those oldtimers (Levon Helm) from the Nashville sessions touring with Frank (Most nursing homes don't allow their residents too many overnight excursions).

And many of the musicians on Honeycomb have their own projects to promote (Buddy Miller's grammy award for his new album, "House of Prayer"?; Billy Block stays busy here in Nashville with "Billy Block's Western Beat", a showcase of new artists at a local club,etc...)

Where's Frank Black Francis, then?

Anyway I think the Catholics have several other projects without Frank Black. For example Rich is playing guitar on the last album of Tanya Donnelly (ex-Belly, Breeders). So I do not think they will get bored during that time...

This is true, I saw him play with her in the summer.

I'd be the last person on this forum (nay, on this planet!) to give
either of our illustrious moderators a hard time ... but ...
Dave McCaffrey is not Dave #2, OK? (Stomps off in a huff.)

The Catholics are all pros. Whatever happens, they'll all do fine.

Frank often returns to working with the same collaborators again and again (see Eric Drew Feldman, Lyle Workman, Nick Vincent, Jon Tiven). He even tours with some of the same opening acts again and again (Reid Paley, Bennies, Dave Lovering). That some or all of the Catholics will show up working with Frank in future is the safest bet, I'd say.

I think that would be really cool if they came out with a CD on their own, a la "The Stooges".

What is Dave McCaffrey up to? Can anybody clue in his adoring public? Or should I start a McDave thread? Don't tempt me, people.

I was thinking it is probably Dave Phillips. But some people refuse to answer me!

Yes... Rich let me know recently that he's working on a solo album. Scott is a new father and probably spending some well deserved time at home. Dave is playing with doing sessions for some other musicians. Eric is working on his side project and recently produced the Polyphonic Spree's latest record.
