If you do, you have to put "Living on Soul" up too. I command thee.

When you guys were wishing us happy holidays, I swear I heard Dean say "Kuala Lumpur, all that stuff". Is that really a holiday, or just the capital of Malaysia? My crackpot theory is that the February podcasts will take place in Kuala Lumpur!!!

Great job on the podcasts...love the live inclusions.

It's pretty much impossible not to - the songs are joined together by a solo. He just likes to state the obvious and then issue it as an order.

"That's an orderrrr"

Possibly an ignorant question here, Dean. On the news item you posted yesterday, you wrote, "This Sunday, Julian Clark co-hosts the podcast with us and it's more fun than three monkeys and a banana on a string." Who's Julian Clark?

More important, where do I come up with my "more fun than" analogies?

Julian Clark, as I should probably say in the news, is Violet's son and FB's stepson. He's 9 (I believe) and awesome - he did the cover art for I Burn Today when he was in kindergarten and you can see him in the YouTube videos.

Is "more fun than three monkeys and a banana on a string" some Canadian expression from which I am shielded in the nation of Quebec? Wondering...

i've never heard it before either. i think it may be a saskatchewan thing or some type of katsiris family saying. still not sure what it means but i might try it tonight in our hockey dressing room and see what type of response i get.

"more fun than three monkeys and a banana on a string" underscores the knowledge that at least three quarters of all humor is sadistic at root. But, hey, "it's all good".

Heh, indeed. Count on Erebus. :)

And I should mention I was trying to think of silly things that some people might consider fun or entertaining and these have no origin, meaning, or significance whatsoever.

Podcast listeners, here's another treat for you. The melded version of Remake/Remodel and Living On Soul they've been playing on tour:

Yeah, loved podcast 20. Made it seem so real for those of us who couldn't see the tour. Well done, guys.

Just checked out #21; Julian is such a bright young man! More articulate than many people of my age i know haha.

oh......my........god. His vocals and the background vocals on remake/remodel are like aural gymnastics. Damn that is good. Thanks you guys. These podcasts are a joy. Next time, though, video podcast while on frank's bus. ;-) That sounded like a fun little party in there.

Podcast #21 was fun to listen to. Anyone got the lyrics to Julian's song at the beginning? Also, I enjoyed the track from Dunmore....he's right, it is 'catchy.'

Hey 1965, if you emailed it to us that would be awesome. Even more so if you were to record yourself explaining it, but we're happy to get any level of involvement from members. Thanks!

Isn't he? He was more eloquent than either Brian or myself. Take the following three examples of not knowing quite how to respond:

Dean: Uhhh....
Brian: Well ...
Julian: I'll have to think about that.

Thanks for another podcast, guys. I enjoyed the commentary on the songs -- all of which I thought I knew fairly well, but you added some color. You do that well.

I still don't like "Announcement." It just sounds like a bunch of noise to me. Can somebody clue me in on why it's among people's favorites?

Not a terrible song by any stretch, just not one of my favorites.

I still have to see lQl... one of these days I'll buy it.

I'm not sure why it's among peoples' favs either, I'd say it might even be my least favourite Oddballs track (though that's hardly an insult).

the power of the opening chords / the peace of only fB strumming some of the greatest chords you could ever play together / back into distortion / some cool verse singing / the lyrics being sung / the "oooooooo" before the peace returns in the middle, just fB and a guitar / peace / "before the nighhhhhh-ighhhhh-igh-igh-igh-ight" / the drums / the uncatholic like sound during a most catholic time / the how and what Frank shouts at the end.... want me to continue? and it's only a b-side / and....

because it's mine. nuff said.

next time you're near a guitar, pick it up, strum the opening chords to announcement.

[all said in good humour, of course]

It's not my favorite (not by a longshot), but I have to say I really like the Neil Young quality of the guitars, particularly the lead guitar right before he starts singing. That could be Neil playing right there.

Announcement is a tremendous song and probably Frank's most underrated work.
I really fell in love with it when I saw Frank perform it live in 96.
